You Are Ocean

Charles Edward York 1966 (Saigon, Vietnam)

You Are Ocean

You are ocean soft and powerful
Washing my feet on a sandy beach
Me so young and small
You so beautiful and immense
Ancient as you are
Enormous and intimate
Touching me all over
With salty goodness.

I feel the smiles of many shores
From far away as if
Thousands of miles say hello
All at once
Stroking my skin
Over and over
And over again
Repeating your soul
In wave after wave
And returning again
Sharing your timeless energy
As an eternal journey.

You are a story never ending
Home to so many living,
Swimming in your home
In constant motion
Your sensation
Caresses me
With affections
Multiplying
Amplifying
Inside sea shells
I can hear you
Echo inside.

You are ocean, the true name
This world really is
You cover the planet
You fill the sky
And return as rain
In endless waves
In limitless wind
In raging storm
You are deeper than
The highest mountains
You are infinite life
Coloring existence
In liquid love.
