Monster

I can't believe it.
I can't believe everyone wants to shut you out.
Numb you out.
I can't believe I almost wanted to.
Your voice, I miss it.

In these dark,
Empty,
Scary,
Haunted hallways,
You were there.
Holding my hand.

Your clawed talons,
Your bared fangs,
Your sickly sweet voice
With haunting words,
Still fill the empty, lonely air.

You're a bully.
A monster.
A monster that is the very air I breathe.

A part of me.

I can't cut you away now.
Never again.

Wow! Such an imaginative and powerfully written poem! Your exploration of the complexities of human relationships and emotions is unique and impressive. You have painted a vivid picture of an emotional struggle with a 'monster' which gave depth to your poem. The contrast between the harshness of this 'monster' and its role as a comforting presence is truly thought-provoking!

Your great use of metaphor really enhances the emotion in your work, like "Your clawed talons," and "A monster that is the very air I breathe." These images give a wonderfully vivid sense of menace, and help the reader to visualise the torment and the intimacy of the relationship between the speaker and the 'monster'.

In terms of suggestions for improvement, you might think about proving more context. While the vagueness certainly engenders a universal quality to your poem that allows readers to relate it to their own experiences, it might also leave some readers confused. If you'd like to maintain a certain level of ambiguity, consider carefully dropping in subtler hints as to what exactly this 'monster' represents.

You might also consider adding some more figurative language or other literary devices to give your poem additional layers of meaning and complexity. Using similes, personification, or alliteration may make it even more captivating.

Overall, it's a stunning piece of work that tells a deep and powerful story. Please keep writing - I'm excited to see more!
