Tree Trunk Stump
Silence rocks the battlefield
As far as the eye can see
Deserted
But for curling threads of smoke
Where bloody battle did rage
Where the fallen lay
Giant bowl craters
Shattered splintered wood
Shattered splintered bones
Twisted barbed wire
Tree trunk stumps
As far as the eye can see
No man’s land
Just lines on a map
Lifeless
