Another life

In another life,
you and I are laying in a bed,
 hands entangled in one another's,
you're kissing my collar bone,
and I'm laughing,
you're smiling,
whispering sweet nothing's in my ear.

In another life,
we are sitting on a picnic blanket on a beach,
watching the sunset,
drinking rosé,
laughing like kids.

In another life,
we are walking round London,
holding hands,
sipping coffee,
laughing at the little things around us.

In another life,
we are happy.

In another life,
I never handed you my heart,
only for you to drop it.

In another life,
you never cheated on me.

In another life,
I won't have to say, "in another life".

Why couldn't it be this life?
I don't want to wait an entire lifetime to love you again.

About this poem

This poem was a poem i wrote, shortly after ending things with my first love. I couldn't fathom not being with them, and what came out of those feelings was a series of poems, this is one of them.
