Your Ghost

Charles Edward York 1966 (Saigon, Vietnam)

Your Ghost

In the dark is where you leave me
Inadmissible in your world
Your ghost lost between
The guilt of erasure
Inconvenient truth
You don’t dare tell anyone
Because innocence
Doesn’t exist with blood
Spilled by your hands
You have departed.

In the silence is where you left me
Ignoring, neglecting
And rejecting my face
Your fake kisses
Your vampire lips
Made puncture wounds
My soul wears handcuffs
Your toxic attention
Arrested to deceive me
Where I fade in prison.

In your room there will be no sleep
That is where my memory
Will forever haunt you
As your absence did me
Breadcrumbs galore
You spread me
On your dirty floor
Lower than the dogs
Your leash kept
Me hanging on.

In your nightmares I will roam
Lingering visions appearing
Without warning
Reminding you
Pain leaves scars
You will wear these tattoos
For the hurt you caused
For all the losses
Time won’t return
But your ghost will.
