A cup of sugar

Charles Fields II 1955 (Fort Bragg, NC)

It is raining
and i want to cry

For the love
that i have found in you

That for now at least
i cannot keep

For the dreams
which so sweetly come

In gentle showers
softly, touching me

In a slow-motion parade
of heartfelt desire

It is not sorrow, which brings tears
To my eyes, it is joy in my heart.

No, it’s not a bad thing,

These living dreams
Between anticipation,

expectation

i wait for now at least,
content

as a borrower

Picking up
the few pieces of a dream

i have
This side of forever

About true love and devotion,

In a partnership i’d rather live for
With, rather than…

Without
