An Empty Meadow?

For years an empty meadow was
A way I thought of me.
The emptiness was there because
I did not often see

The innate beauty all around,
For those who really care.
All nature's gifts that can be found
Like flowers everywhere.

So many fields I tread upon
In daytime and at night.
I did enjoy the sun at dawn
And stars that shined so bright.

Much later on I learned to "hear"
And truly "see" again.
I did not wait for thunder near,
I listened to the wind.
