Little Butterfly

Little Butterfly 1965 (Decatur, Alabama)

Flap your wings
little butterfly,
You had to go and float so high.

You had to leave your
mommy's nest,
It was so hard but was for your best,

You had to learn
how far to soar,
Away from home
and our safe shoar

Learn your lessons
live your way,
but know we are here for you any day.

And when your ready
and have had your fill,
Know that we are here and love you still.

About this poem

I wrote this about learning to let my daughter grow up and letting her know I will always be here.
