Forever and Always

Forever and Always
By Joyce Codd Ricker

Till death do us part, Forever and Always
my true love my partner, for all of my days,
You're the light of my life, my dream that came true...
There's no greater love that I’ve found...., I found in you.

Those words from that cowboy, swept that girl off her feet..
For there’s no one-not one... who made her heart skip a beat.
When she looked in his eyes, she saw the love that was pure,
And being wrapped in his arms she felt safe and secure.

His dreams became hers as their paths became one,
For the heart of that girl - the cowboy surely won.
She was encouraged, uplifted as he stood by her side,
As the cowboy would whisper these words to his bride:

Till death do us part, forever and always
my true love, my partner for all of my days.
You're the light of my life, my dream that came true,
There's no greater love that I’ve found….I found
It's been seven years, since he rode off in the sun;
For the Lord showed that cowboy his work here was done.
That girl was not ready But with God ever near
She whispered, "Hey cowboy" and these words in his ear:

Till death do us part, forever and always
My true love, my partner for all of my days.
You're the light of my life, my dream that came true,
There's no greater love that I’ve found
No greater love that I’ve found

About this poem

I wrote this poem 7 years after my husband passed away. He swept me off my feet in 1985 and we were married for 25 years with 2 beautiful children and a wonderful granddaughter. In November of 2009, he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and passed away in November of 2010. This poem is our love story of our Forever and Always commitment to each other.

I grew up in the suburbs of Maryland and now live on a farmette in the country with my husband and daughters family. My husband and I enjoy retired life helping others and caring for our collection of animals! I write songs and my husband composes the music to bring my words to life. We know God brought us together to bring hope and joy to those around us! more…
