A LETTER TO LIFE

Greetings, toughest teacher
Hear me loud and clear
And don’t expect me to mince words
Never, not this time

Do you have personal issues with this world?
Has anyone snatched your wife
Stolen your money or dirtied your shirt?
How much do we owe you?

Whoever sent you probably directed your steps to our door
You bang with all your strength
Strike and smash with all your might
You yell even at tender souls
And spit your venom on everyone
Why are you so heartless?
Can’t you exercise restraint at least for once?

The last time I met you on that avenue
You were completely frowned
What were you doing with that Karma book?
A payback, I guess.
Heartless being!

You kill mothers and leave their babies to suffer
You take away the breadwinner unannounced
You strike down kind souls and leave the wicked to thrive
Why? Why?
Oh I see. You seem bribed.
Your tests are too difficult to write
And to pass requires a lifetime

Are you not the same person we meet at the entrance of this world?
You seem soft and gentle
But why now? Why this time?
You’ve completely changed in our old age
Arranging tough fights for us
What happened to all the sweet words from the beginning?
Chameleon!

I wish to pull up here
And hope that this letter finds you well
A reply in the next poem will be expected.
