Awaken Me This Morning

Four stems come from one,
one you chose, one you sought:
selfless,
selfish,
sorrowful;
Authentic.
he who wears a mask for society,
he who turns from benevolence,
he who drowns in tears;
His true self you made manifest.
Each one shares a common desire,
but hope can still be vain, can still turn to mourning.

Months of desire come as hope,
Only to leave as memories of the past.
a cycle whose seeds ceaselessly grow,
a self-centered sapling, spreading his own roots,
a willow’s leaves dropping rain;
A native bonsai: nurtured and cherished.
Time’s reality is a concept of humanity's imagination,
its principle transcends their comprehension,
its intangibility brought his tears.
Yet, you mended him into his desired self:
Life’s uncertainty is but a trifle,
Thank you for being there to awaken me this morning.
