Entitled To Just Be
Entitled To Just Be
The anger of the bigoted patriot singes
Burning the beautiful and benevolent
They feel entitled to berate
With words on fire with fury
Hearts filled with so much hate
They are consumed and doomed to die
And kill the capacity to care
Living in a constant state of conflict
Their world is a conspiracy theory
And life is a lie not allowed to breathe.
Wearing red hats that insult freedom
Declaring lost greatness founded
On slavery, tyranny and oppression
They are trapped in a past
That has no part in the present
Instead they follow a fool
Spewing his con on them
While they insist on everyone
Embrace the mendacity of madness
And follow them off the cliff.
To live a life of freedom, peace and love
Means to allow and accept others
To embrace their existence
Instead of rejecting it
On grounds of monopolized truth
We are entitled to just be
As our nature always intended
We are our own authors
Sharing in this variety of poetry
Writing our verses out loud.
