Any Other Way

The sun bites at my eyes,
and my lips,
I watch as it uncurls onto my hips.
It holds my heart so high,
I fear that it might haunt me,
and honestly,
I want it to.
Because it just might save me.

The wind relies on my whip,
It cannot jumpstart without it.
And it needs to be in command
of my hand,
sure and steady as they are,
They still must be influenced
by the will of the wind.

I suppose you are
blinded by the water that
drips down the windowsill.
Because you did not seem
to see me through it.

What a shame that was,
because of how much I
Loved you at the time.
Thank goodness I changed.

Because after that it all slipped away,
and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
