Trying To Describe The Essence Of Music

As the music
Fills the room,
The beat resounds,
Reverberating
Through the walls
And across the floor.
With each passing moment,
The rhythm
Grows stronger,
Echoing out the door
And into the world beyond.

The river
With it's eternal cheer beckons,
Its waters sparkling
In the light of the sun.
See it flow
Effortlessly
Like a breeze,
And for all it's value,
A celebration
Of life
And all its mysteries.

I sought
The echo
In the labyrinthine halls,
Losing myself
In the maze
Of endless possibility.
It is there
That the Lord
Can be found,
Nourishing all
Who come to Him.
Or so I've heard.
But I don't believe in that.

I saw it flow
Effortlessly
Like a stream of water
Among the weeds,
Bounding
Over the earth
And through
The underbrush,
Flowing
Down
Through the caves,
Winding its way
Through the long walks
That lovers take
In the evening
Through the forest,
Singling a song
Of freedom
In the breeze.

Four stanzas that do an excellent job of describing the essence of music. Very enjoyable read, great selection of words. Curious what you thought about Joyce Macfee's piece: "The Power of Music" ...
