Kindness

A person may put on a face of good,
While the inner feelings remain unseen.
It may be difficult to tell what lies in the hearts,
When everything that’s seen are smiles and gleams.

One may be kind and gentle to some,
While their inner darkness lies concealed.
Let us make the time to look and peer,
Into the hidden corners of a person's mind.

The truth revealed can often be quite severe,
Where kindness is the feeling left behind.
Peoples' masks of kindness often deceive,
With one's true self hidden away unseen.

But kindness is very necessary in our world,
Where people’s hearts have often been unkind.
It is a quality that helps us to unfurl,
The love and compassion bottled up within.

In a moment of pause, a time to reflect,
Spend a few moments in reflective perception.
One's journey of self-examination, of one's own depths,
Allow your kindness to manifest compassion to others.

About this poem

Living in a time where understanding, tolerance and acceptance is under trod by in-your-face anger, distrust, war through all social mediums including graffiti. Kindness is a quality inherent within every human, unbound by faith, social class or any other social condition, costs nothing but yields great generosity, leaving recipients in a very appreciative state.
