Dream Big, Dreamer

Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)

One of the greatest forms
Of self-sabotage?
Surrounding
Yourself
With those who think
You're dreaming too big,
Those
Who clip your wings,
Hold back
Your flight,
Force you to conform,
To shrink
Into a tidy box,
A humble cage
Of mediocrity.

Dream,
They say,
Within reason,
Don't aim too high,
Don't reach
For stars that seem
Too distant,
Too bright,
Too elusive.
Stay grounded,
Stay practical,
Stay within the lines.

But in the realm
Of dreamers,
Daring leaps
Are a necessity,
A radical prescription
For growth,
For transformation.
It's in the audacity
Of lofty dreams
That greatness unfolds,
That possibilities
Expand,
That worlds
Are reshaped,
And the unimaginable
Becomes reality.

To dream big
Is to breathe
Life into
An infinite cosmos,
To tap into
The vast reservoirs
Of human potential,
To break
The chains
Of conventionality,
To inspire,
To invent,
To innovate,
To challenge
The very fabric
Of existence.

Surround yourself
With those
Who celebrate
Your grand visions,
Who fuel
Your passions,
Who fan
The flames of ambition.
In their eyes,
You'll find
The reflection
Of your own fire,
The affirmation
That your dreams
Are not outlandish,
But rather
The lifeblood
Of the extraordinary.

Leave behind
The naysayers,
The dream-crushers,
The skeptics.
But keep them close
So they can watch you
Soar.
They dwell in the known,
Convinced
That greatness
Is an illusion,
That the confines
Of their beliefs
Are the only reality.

The path
To the unimaginable
May seem treacherous,
But it is paved
With the whispers
Of possibility,
The whispers
That urge you
To keep going,
To keep dreaming,
Till your dreams
Surge forth,
Forging a path
That others
Can only marvel at.

Embrace your audacity,
Your unwavering
Belief in the unseen.
Within you resides
The power
To create,
To transcend,
To manifest
A reality that defies
The narrow confines
Of the ordinary.

Dream big, dreamer.
It is in the vastness
Of your dreams
That your true self
Will glide,
Illuminating
The darkest corners
Of this world
With the radiance
Of your boundless
Imagination.

I believe in you.
