Am I Not Merciful

Nathaniel Hackey 1983 (Madrid)

I can feel it as it happens
My skin crawling, beginning to boil
As though my organs are unaffected
But my body only knows one thing to do
To let it grow from the inside out
Until my anger causes your soul to melt

Then when you lay dead and motionless
You will know how I feel
But for you… it’s too late
You’re right where you need to be
Melting flesh beneath my feet

Just dust in my fingernails
And I’m your vessel
Taking you straight to hell
You can call me the Boatman
The seeker of truth
For all will know
Even after I rip your tongue from you
