Metamorphosis

Brian A. Hoody 1966 (Apple valley)

The remains butterfly, laying on the curbside.
Where are your colored wings, that used to flutter 'round thing? Landing anywhere, and pollinating flowers there, your beauty was unsurpassed, I'm just sorry it didn't last.
But someday you'll be resurrected, where formerly you were rejected, you'll spread your wings and mount up to the sky.

The remains of a butterfly, laying on the curbside, I miss seeing you in spring, when you awoke from your long dream. Landing on a child's nose; while avoiding the water hose. A net was never your friend, I'm just sorry it had to end.
But someday you'll be resurrected, where formerly you were rejected, you'll spread your wings and mount up to the sky.
