Evil Lives There

A wallowing resident of despair
The evil lives there
In the warped, crooked halls
Under the devil's thrall;

They live there
In an oblivious, sluggish amble
Residing in rooms of sinister twilight
At the mercy of their last breath;

Up Up Up the staircase, into the depths below
To where your fears crow
The walls bleed there
In the dying, stale air;

Can you hear it? A baleful melody
It soothes your ears, doesn't it?
Like a siren upon the sea
A nightmare disguised as a dream;

Black, tar-like mist hangs there
Groaning in an unlit midnight
Their struggles open a blistered eye
Unleashing the most malign, terrible cry;

Screams echo out of hallowed lungs
Color below compare
Rotted dreams linger in
The cost of misery in the air;

The floor sunders and creaks like a rusted hinge
It bellows an archaic angered bliss
They tread there, in the sludge
A sequel to the Greatest Disobeyance.

About this poem

I wrote this poem to express as graphically as I could an idea of how my life was before I came to know Jesus and the depravity of not only myself, but the world around me. I had no idea the state I was in at the time, but now that I believe, I see.
