A Faceless Face

They smile and laugh, appear as happy as can be,
but the face they show, is not the face they feel,
An ocean that stretches beyond what we see,
they’ve drowned, they’ve died, and hidden behind a mask that’s all too real.

A skill they’ve mastered, they play the part, behind their joyous facade,
lies a well practised art.
A face concealed, like an ocean so deep but hidden,
Filled with pain they can no longer bear.

In silence they suffer while no one else believes,
that a face so happy, has a side unseen.
As soon as it leaves behind closed doors, is a face that melts into sadness,
a face that no longer cares, a face that is there, but a face brimmed with unknown despair.

About this poem

Just how I feel sometimes. Some people are expected to put on a smile, this poem explains the side of the smile and face most people are blind to seeing. :)
