America the Free

America the Free
America is free, is that not plain to see?
    There are no economic slaves,
the streets with gold are paved,
              the voting districts fair.

Books not burned just in schools are sometimes banned,
Women control their health issues here,
differences in race are treated fair,
the Supreme Court, Affirms it so.

America is free that is just so plain I don't have to explain,
the taxes are carefully adjusted so make sure even-steven,
        even rich individuals and corporations,
            pay their fair share,

There exist no loopholes or tax dodges for rich companies,
even the politically connected pay their fair share,
when laws are violated regardless of race or occupation,
each spends his or her fair time in prison.

Here we are clearly free, that is plain to see,
when stopped or arrested by the police,
        regardless of skin color,
we have no reason to fear for our life.

Our prisons are all the same,
    regardless of social class.
there are no secret courts or presidential orders,
illegal immigrants are not allowed across our borders.

The common people not those in power,
    chose who run for office,
        voting rights are protected,
in all states, no one is summarily rejected.

By now you should see,
    in America the free,
        all our rights so dear,
by the government, are clearly accepted.
