Deepest Places of Worship
I have been in cloistered places
Where the atmosphere is grave
Once a murder in Cathedral
That the King could not stop, save.
But acoustics, Man they’re special
And the loneliness not bad.
Bringing worship’s deepest utterance.
Timidity turned brave.
Once there’s quiet
Nothing troubles
Hearing focused
On His plan.
Thinking shifts to
Spirit Wisdom
Leaving every trace of Man.
About this poem
Inspired once by a trip to Canterbury Cathedral and the place of Becket’s martyrdom.
