I look at the pink and white marks on my arm
A reminder of the pain I felt
A mark of the hate I had
A sign of the harm I did

I remember the blade in my hand
A tool of the relief I sought
A weapon of the rage I unleashed
A friend of the loneliness I endured

I regret the blood on my skin
A waste of the life I had
A stain of the shame I faced
A price of the guilt I paid

I wish for the healing on my soul
A gift of the love I need
A result of the hope I find
A promise of the peace I seek
