You Are The Reason

You Are The Reason
By Nancy Rodriquez

You are the reason I will never love again,
brokenness causes too much pain,
When I lost you, life had a new meaning,
and it left me without feelings,
except becoming numb from all of the tears,
and accepting not having you for the remainder of
our years,
When you ran away instead of facing things like a man,
I discovered life must go on, even if we refuse to under-
stand,
like being there for family, work, and my dreams,
even though it can all be a juggling act it would seem,
It is the pieces of my life worth something,
though I will never have your ring,
to show the world  to whom I belong,
though it is sad and very wrong,
I am going to great lengths,
it is within my pure strengths,
while you sit in your wheelchair, or grave of choice,
I will again find my voice,
and in this I can take solace in this life dealt to me.

About this poem

It is time to finally close this dreary time in my personal life. I am finding closure to end the pangs of love gone awry. It is not easy, but I know it has to come from within my soul.
