The Blinding Factor
I don't know if I could end it, but I just can't fucking take it!
All this drama pushing down like a 2 ton weighted blanket!
I just want to chase my dreams but when I dream I'm suffocated
by the lies and all the hope that this world so falsely gave me!
I love being a mom but I wasn't born a parent
Every day is a new struggle with all the same expectations
and I know that I'll get through it but there's so much hesitation because each day is the same and no amount of meditation
Can make anything okay, can make any of this right
Everybody needs some help when it's come time to fight
But tell me, when is it our turn to to finally have a life
With the security of knowing that we can sleep tonight!
Tell me when it's our turn to have a moment just to be
To exist as we are in the moment, to be free?
Tell us now that its time for us to chase our dreams
So the next generation knows there's hope and opportunity!
For those who are less fortunate and don't quite have the tools
Already equipped to make their wishes come true!
A time for everyone to have an equal chance to shine!
A kind of world where greed and hate no longer keep us blind!
About this poem
This composition brings light to the struggles of the less fortunate not having an equal opportunity to create the life they choose. How capitalism and greed oppresses those not born with the tools and resources to afford proper education and opportunities and how societal pressures encourage women especially to find a partner, settle down and have kids even if thats not what is desired.
