Whispers of malice

In the dark of night, I lay in bed,
Tossing and turning, restless in my head,
For I heard whispers of malice and hate,
People talking bad, spreading lies and bait.

Their words cut deep like a sharpened knife,
Leaving me disturbed, questioning my life,
Wondering why they choose to speak ill,
And why their words have such a bitter chill.

I try to ignore it, to let it go,
But the thoughts keep coming, a relentless flow,
My mind a tangled mess of worry and fear,
As I struggle to find some peace and cheer.

Sleep eludes me, as I lay awake,
The voices in my head refuse to take a break,
I feel alone, exposed, vulnerable and weak,
Wondering how much more I can take.

But I know deep down, that I am strong,
And their words cannot undo what I belong,
I will rise above this, and stand tall,
For I know that I am worth it all.
