I didn’t want to leave you Mum

I know your heart is breaking Mum,
I know you’re feeling sad,
You’ve never given up on me,
Even though the doctors had.

You felt me grip your hand Mum,
You knew that I was there,
I felt you stroke my face too,
I felt you touch my hair.

I wanted to open my eyes Mum,
I tried, I really tried,
But I needed some more time Mum,
And they wasn’t on our side.

I know how hard you fought Mum,
I saw how strong you are,
And even when I’m gone Mum,
You know I won’t be far.

I’ll always be beside you Mum,
In your heart I’ll always stay,
I’ll cuddle you when you’re crying,
And I’ll kiss you every day.

I know how much you’ll miss me Mum,
Of course I’ll miss you too,
But I’m so proud of all you did Mum,
And I’ll be proud of all you do.

The bestest Mum there ever was,
I’m glad that you are mine,
I love you very much Mum,
I wish they’d given us time.

But I want to tell you thank you Mum,
You did everything you could,
And if you could have saved me,
Mum I know for sure you would.

But just for now, please hold my hand,
And talk like you always do,
Because everything I am Mum -
It comes from being loved by you.
