Caged in Herself

Young girl in a cage
Looking into the eyes of passers-by
Gazing like speaking through their eyes
Longing for them to come and know her side

A woman standing afar
Watching with compassion seen in her eyes
Trying to think about what to decide
Taking steps toward the gate's side
Wanting to know what's in her mind

Blushing in surprise
the girl opens her mouth
Saying only what she can let out
Little smile slowly coming out
knowing that someone is hearing her out

About this poem

The poem was written in the perspective of a young girl with personal struggles, something that she can't express freely to anyone. She seems to be in cage, maintaining a tough facade, but if closely observed she is in pain. People are perceiving her as other girls with no much cares of this world, until a woman filled with compassion saw this through her eyes. Led by compassion, the woman approached the girl. That made her shed tears of joy knowing that somehow someone cares for her. This poem shows how much a little act of passion mean to a person. We just don't know that if we only respond to the leading of God to show compassion, we could reach and help more people.
