Mouse in the House

Rick Campbell 1957 (St. Louis)

"Mouse in the House"
I once caught a mouse inside my house.
I didn't know what to do with him.
He went for the bait, now I pondered his fate.
His chances seemed pretty dim.
Such a small, tiny thing.
What harm could it bring?
When it's cold, don't we all go inside?
He got caught, but at least he tried.
So I took him outside and gave him a ride
To another warm place that I knew.
Then I set him free by a hollow oak tree
I hope that is what you would do.
