Bind Her Wounds

Bind the wounds of America,
her people weep into the
dust of Death.
Preachers of His Word-
bandage our hearts,
the Lord still loves
His people.

The cold steel minds of
the killers,
their gunshots reverberate
like summer thunder in
our psyches.
A tsunami of the blood
of the young.
Murderers, you've torn
our country's fabric
of unity.
Our hearts are shards
of shattered glass again.

The ebony veil of our
collective bereavement
cannot contain our shock
and falling to our knees
in a hurting heap.
Children should be full
of life,
not buried in their
lives of beginning.
No, not the small
coffins again!
The nation's bells
knell for the innocent.
Flowers and crosses
in the tears from
mourning Heaven's font.
