Prisoner of Blue

Prisoner of Blue
A Poem By Beverly J. Parker

Blue is the color when I’m feeling down
Blue is the secret of my deep, dark frown
Blue is the storm that rages inside
I want to run but there’s no place to hide
I yearn to live yet, slowly I die
I want to laugh yet, instead I cry

Living an existence of darkness and doom
How do I begin to shake this gloom?
Been lied to and hurt and yes, even battered
What once was a good life is now all shattered
All that’s left are the colors of blue
Left over from the changes you took me through

Why must I be a prisoner of blue
I’m gonna calm the storm that rages inside
I’m gonna heal my wounds and restore my pride
I’m gonna shake these blues tho it’ll take a while
I’m gonna take this frown and make it a smile
Now that you’re gone I know just what to do

No longer am I a prisoner of the colors of blue
