A woman’s vanity
Adorned across a woman’s vanity lies something that is always, ours.
Littered with makeup products as the curtains are drawn.
The mascara that had been meticulously applied at morning now smudged from a day spent in the spring breeze.
It is an art,
I wish i could paint it,
Take a picture to capture it’s true form
United and together we apply our paint
And the women before us placed blush on the apples of their cheeks, rosey, wind swept.
Like a 1950s movie star waiting to perform her sell out show,
our vanities stands in all their glory
Ancient women from a time long before my own who painted their faces with sun shaped blush live inside me, uniting us from history and into the future,
There’s beauty in a woman’s vanity.
