A Quiet House
Tooba Butt 2002 (Lahore)
Wall, bricks, hustle and bustle
Scrotching love, increasing rustle
Crowded and yet very hushed
With every soul inhabited crushed
Dwelling constantly with war affront
Tedious creatures, so afraid to confront
Startling it is, the pretence of grandeur
Every pupil looks a radiant azure
The world so envious of this ménage
Ceaselessly causing shatter to percentage
Why? Why would you do that?
Hiding tears not sharing combat
Disillusioned, the world having doubts
Unaware, those bricks are a quiet house!
About this poem
This poem is about a house full of people but very distant from each other because of the harshness of the world around them.
