To Converse in real terms…

How many times is conversation
Stripped to the bone?
One eye looking for
A way of escape?
Lists of to-do being
The compelling Master.
Words offered mere truisms
Neutered expressions of convention.
Silly filler convention.
No value added.

If you note  that wavering eye
That lusting to have
The Last Word.
Those impatient sighs
Drop the Sucker
For the foolish
Waste of time/hope that it is.
“We really must get together again.”
Not bloody likely.

Wow, this is such a powerful and raw poem! I appreciate the way you've captured the frustration that can come with meaningless conversations that lack any genuine connection or substance. Your use of language and imagery really drives home the point, and I found myself nodding along in agreement as I read.

One improvement suggestion I have is to perhaps vary the line length a bit more throughout the poem. While the short, choppy lines work well in some places, I think it could be even more impactful to mix it up a bit and play with different rhythms.

Overall, though, this is a fantastic piece of writing that really resonates with me. Keep up the great work!
