To See the World Through Others’ Eyes

Oscar Auliq-Ice 1994 (Port Elizabeth)

Once I thought I knew it all,
My mind was set, my pride stood tall.
But then a shift, a change of heart,
And suddenly my world fell apart.

What once was clear, now seemed obscure,
The things I knew, I was no longer sure.
My stubbornness had kept me blind,
But now I see, a new path to find.

The walls I built, they start to crumble,
As my heart beats with a new humble.
I learn to listen, to empathize,
To see the world through others' eyes.

With open arms, I welcome change,
No longer afraid to rearrange.
For growth and love, I strive to find,
A new way of life, with an open mind.

So here I stand, a changed person,
With a new heart, a different version.
And though the road ahead is unknown,
I walk it proudly, on a path I've grown.
