A caged eagle

A mighty eagle
Trapped by chains
In a zoo
Where people stare and point

This I am

I am the eagle
My expectations the rough chains
That cut me
Make me bleed in agony
That stop me from being who I wish to be.
And what path I choose to follow through

For I am nothing
But my grades
And the expectations given to me
I am thrown
Onto hard gravel
If the eagle
Does not soar as high as the people wish

I’m forced into an arranged marriage
A career I’m not sure I want
Someone perfect
Is something society teaches for me to know.

I cry and cry,
Hoping that another bird
Will save me
From this enclosed caged jail cell
But for now,
I consider this home.

Two things: Who is imposing those chains on the speaker? Why can he or she break free?
We come to the conclusion the chains and eagle are used here metaphorically. The one thing to do for the reader is to come to an understanding as to the real situation here.
