The Leap

The hurdles faced by Africans,
Are many and varied, we know,
And yet through the struggles and challenges,
Our strength and resilience still grow.

For generations, we’ve faced discrimination,
And inequality in so many forms,
From colonial rule and apartheid,
To poverty and lack of resources.

We’ve struggled with corrupt leaders,
And governments that don’t serve our needs,
With diseases that ravage our communities,
And conflicts that tear at our seams.

We’ve faced racism and xenophobia,
And prejudice both subtle and stark,
We’ve been marginalized and silenced,
And our stories have been left in the dark.

But through all these struggles and hardships,
We’ve found ways to rise above,
To unite in our common humanity,
And to stand up for justice and love.

We’ve shown the world our resilience,
Our strength in the face of adversity,
We’ve created art and music and culture,
That celebrates our diversity.

We’ve fought for our rights and our freedoms,
And we’ve made progress in so many ways,
We’ve built businesses and communities,
That is thriving and growing each day.

So let us not forget the hurdles,
That we’ve faced and continue to face,
But let us also celebrate the triumphs,
And the beauty of our African race.

Let us continue to work together,
To overcome the obstacles in our way,
To create a better future for all Africans,
And to shine our light on a brighter day.
