A Child’s Joy
I see the world through his eyes when he tells me about his day,
I hear the joy and laughter when I listen to him play.
So many new things that I had forgotten about,
The wonder of a caterpillar as it’s crawling
out.
How great it is to paint and get it on your skin,
And stand there unashamed with a splotch upon the chin.
To chase the birds across the grass and be distracted by the tap,
To come in soaking wet and be fascinated by the cat.
How good to see the world around me fresh and new,
And my four-year-old I owe some thanks to you.
About this poem
I Just thought about all the little things that children find interesting and fun and as adults we can be so busy we forget to find joy like they do.
