Your eyes changed colors the more you cried

Ayla Johnson 2007 (New Jersey)

Your eyes changed colors the more you cried,
like a tree every time their leaves died.
Your eyes were born black, like an endless void,
And turned blue - as you sought out what you now avoid.

I am the rocks underneath your waterfall
Look up - the tears won't fall at all
But every time you let a drop slip,
I break under the weight of just your drip.

I call upon my sun,
And my stars too.
But who had replied?
Forever and only you.

You say my name as well as the babbling brook
Because it's hard to speak when you can only look
Never hear, and never feel
Nothing can be fake if nothing is ever real.

You hold my entire world within your eyes
You control the the color of all of my skies
And every time I see you cry,
They turn darker and rain ice.

The moment when my sky falls,
When the rocks break
And rivers turn into fogs,
I will admire your ground even as it quakes,
For nothing will ever waver my love.
