White

Again and again men have said to me:
If you run at night you should wear white
So that you can be clearly seen.

Little do they know I can’t be scared of cars
When all of my fear has gone to the man
who hid in a bush to jump out and grab me.

And if I try to explain then they will say:
Do not run at night
Run in the light
And maybe they’re right

But for those who do not have that option like me
We will wear black to straddle the line between being safe and being free.

Because it’s dangerous for a woman at night to be seen.
