Broken Hearted Friend

No one is really who you think
Now I know why you take a drink
And when your low you just get high
Your heart pours tears but you can’t cry
And if you do you try to lie
I wish that I could run away from all this pain
But every letter of your name is burned so deep inside my brain
So I tried talking to someone else
Now they won’t call back and I need your help
I’m drowning in fear and lust feels my lungs
My belly hurts and I can’t feel my tongue
I know if you save me it would be wrong
Even though I’ve hoped and I’ve prayed for so long
That you would come back and love me again
Tell me you love me and I’m your best friend
And my love for you will never end
Even though your touch is fatal
Stay here and and rock me like a cradle
Even though it’s suicidal to call out your name
Because you’ll only leave again
Sincerely written, a broken hearted friend

About this poem

This poem is so special to my heart, when I wrote this piece I was struggling with so much in my life that instead of letting it define me I took these demons and made them beautiful.
