Autumnal Missing

Amidst the void of the green leaves,
the warm rays of sunshine peek into my eyes.
It reminds me of you.
Of everything you were in my life.
Warm, cozy, and comfort.
Those falling leaves portrays our bygone time.
I see amongst those strewn autumn leaves, the laugh we shared, the kiss that was overdue and how your hand was meant to be in mine.
The rustling wind sings me the lullaby- just what I needed to revisit those golden years of ours.
I reminisced autumn was never this dreary. The slow abscission with the turn in hues and feeling the year rounding itself up, composed within the joy of being together. The dusty orange around me is so utterly mundane now.
A small smirk creeps within me thinking that I had a time too when autumn felt so pleasing.
The smile gets bigger and those eyes blurry, as I shrieked out a laughter of pain, while those damn tears quench my cheeks as I realise that it was you.
Autumn never mattered.
It was the solace of yours that kept me so cocooned to the point, it made me love those dark umber.

About this poem

This poem is just about missing someone. I wrote it for my grandmother following her recent death. It's juxtaposes nature with the minimal feeling of missing someone so much.
