Good Friday Jesus Washes Me

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

O Lord how foolish your servant can be,
I worry about things that I can’t even see.
Why should I fear the darkness while the light is still shining?
I’ll get up off my knees and I’ll stop all this whining!

Your grace is sufficient and it rains down on me.
You’ve forgiven my sins and you’ve shown me mercy.
If your mercy can see when it’s dark, why can’t I?
I know that I can and I will by and by!

I can do what is right and walk humbly with You,
But if I don’t love mercy, that is meaningless too.
There’s a way that seems right; yet it leads to destruction!
Let me walk in your light and not face that obstruction!
