Upon the Threshing Floor

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

You will do what’s best for all; of this I am assured.
When You explain your words to me I’m never ever bored.
Excitement is the way of love; a joyous wonderful thing.
And when I leave this earth dear Lord I’ll get to wear your ring!

A symbol of our commitment to each other evermore;
Someday I’ll lie down by your feet upon the threshing floor.
You’ll place the corner of your garment over me there at night.
And darkness there will reign no more; I’ll only see your light!

When will this day come O Lord, of this I am not sure?
I only know you’ll cover me upon the threshing floor.
The wheat you’ll gather to your barn; the chaff will blow away.
We’ll rest upon your promise there and we’ll be home to stay!
