All from a Fall

Doug Blair 1951 (London)

Icy deck
I went down
Broken left wrist
Rib, hip, ankle
Pride.
Mindless ride.
Much time is
Now flat.
Fancy that, not
Like me to be prone
Contemplation to own.
Answerless, when you
Have known me
Fixing each ill.
Strong macho will.
But now humbled
Resting in calm.
Hearing some Word
From on High.
God seems close
To my pain, drain
Complain?
Not me now.
What a Guy!

(I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Psalm 27)

About this poem

Taken wounded or infirm sometimes, one lays flat and is forced to look up. My chastening, healing experience was through prostate cancer and surgery 2017, Christmas.
