Bowl of cherries

Dora Brown 1982 (Buffalo NY)

People tend to think that life is one big bowl of cherries.
And children seem to dream this way, at least until they marry.
But things are all together, tougher
than it seems.
For as the bowl of cherries run empty, so often too does the dream.
You think your marriage will always be happy, and you can be so free, but the truth unfortunately still remains, there is more hard work than you see.

About this poem

I wrote this poem before I really understood it. It's more true now than it's ever been.
