Black Revolution
Grant Giovanni Griffie 1971 (KCMO)
Thinking of the lessons that my mother had gave
About my ancestors who were Negro slaves.
It was tough situations, but they had to be brave
Then God took their souls when they entered the grave
A dark angel looking way back in the pass
At Dr. King who preached free at last,
And Rosa parks who wouldn't be removed from her seat,
And brother Malcolm, I bet a million heard him speak.
James Baldwin criticized the American anxiety and attitudes towards our people in society.
The land of the free and the home of the brave, that sent medgar evers to an early grave
Freedom Summer Mississippi caused
An out rage,
We were treated like dogs like we were locked in a cage.
An educated black man the key to be free at the bottom of society expressing his plea
Anti black prejudice tried to make a sequel
They gained from oppression and submission of our people.
Philosophy gone pushed away
Young minds filled with that racist decay
Black supremacy starts with integration
Black Panthers changed it to black domination
Black power for our people only ment trouble
When the Government made sure that our people would struggle
Trapped by society trying to find solution s
Racial tension and injustice
We call for Black Revolution.
