Atmosphere of Expectation
Douglas Blair 1951 (London)
Junior knows that
Dad will soon be home
Business trip to
Yankee City fame.
He’ll get to catch one game
A glove and cap from same.
And bring back home
Inscribed with Junior’s name.
Return is booked for Monday, Tuesday
Sure.
And Junior curb-side waiting
Will endure.
Dad had promised it
For Dad, Junior will sit.
A sort of prayer of faith.
Now that’s for sure.
