A Touch of Winter

Donald C Lozen

The wind presses on the house and trees
It’s penetrating cold
Creates a formidable barrier
Not liked-there is no glee

I ensure my lip balm, gloves, coat and hat are at hand
My long johns have become my new best friend

The cold jumps to take control
A battle ensues
Hand and foot warmers are brought in
Victory
My heat source overpowered the cold

Winter is much more tolerable
