You, the Universe

The tide within me
Rises to greet you.
I swim until I burst,
And tumble out of darkness
Into sunlight and song,
Without a sputter or cough,
But with breath, full and soft.

I want to share the sun;
Where two atoms fuse,
In Helium, they become One.
Their load lightens,
And pours from Heaven to Earth
In rosy golden rays,
Blushing together as they fall
Through time and space.

I am the soil.
Nourished by Light,
My heart, lungs, and skeleton erupt
With greenery and mountain springs
That dare roots to sink bravely
Into New Earth.
As we sink deeper,
And deeper still,
I raise my face to yours
As tender shoots reach sunward.

Here, we splash in water
And soak in the sun.
